1 Holly 'Silver Queen' Plants / Ilex aquifolium
20cm in 2L pots
'Silver Queen' is actually a male variety of holly. This means that it is primarily grown for its striking variegated foliage as, unlike female varieties, it doesn't produce berries.
Almost spineless, glossy, dark green leaves on dark purple stems. It makes a dense, upright tree that is quite slow-growing. Like all common holly varieties, it is a robust plant, ideal for hedges and screens, both inland and by the sea, but also makes a good specimen shrub.
When the plants arrive they can be planted in a well dug over trench with rotted manure or any other organic fertiliser (The plants will grow without doing this,but it gives them a better start).
