10 Christmas Berry / Photinia fraseri 'Red Robin' 20-30cm Tall in 9cm pots

Photinia, or Christmas berry, is a genus of Asian and North American shrubs, which includes a group of evergreen hybrids grown specifically for their colourful young foliage.

Growing Details:

Common Name: Christmas berry
Genus: Photinia
Species: x fraseri
Cultivar: 'Red Robin'
Skill Level: Beginner
Exposure: Full sun, Partial shade
Hardiness: Hardy
Soil type: Well-drained/light, Moist
Height: 400cm
Spread: 400cm

Most are forms of the garden hybrid P. x fraseri, with glossy dark green adult foliage, and variable red tinted young leaves, especially as they just unfold. 'Red Robin' is one, a choice form with eye-catching juvenile growth the colour of sealing wax, similar to a pieris. This is sometimes caught by late spring frosts, and some shelter is advisable. Plants enjoy a sunny or partially shaded position in moist but well-drained soil.

  1. Excellent! Will come here again! 5

Good value, beautifully packed (with straw around) in a tough cardboard box, and delivered with moisture retained. I only hope that now they're in, that these super hedging plants won't have been damaged by the late frosts this year! Fingers crossed.

Ordered 10 of these Red Robin Hedging plants, look good quality and came nicely packaged in the post. Not planted them yet, waiting for it to stop raining. Live in Cornwall, so they should get a lot of sun (eventually). Will probably order some more off this company. Very happy with purchase.

These are the second lot of 10 I have bought. They were all planted in plastic containers, arrived well packed and no stems broken. The plants are very healthy and are thriving, still in their pots in the garden shed due to the frosts we are currently having. Very happy withy the purchase and would definitely buy again.

Arrived as scheduled, very well packaged and no damage to the plants. Have used 3 Fat Pigs before and would not hesitate in using them again. Highly recommended from my experience.

  6. Good rooted plants. 5

The plants are well rooted and sturdy. A few had come out of the pots in transit but that's to be expected and were re-potted with no detriment.
one of the card board boxes was sodden and the end was lost, although the plants inside were all healthy.
I would certainly use these growers again.

  7. Good Value for Money 5

Plants were good quality and most were much bigger than I expected - up to 750mm long. I think I may have lost one out of 20 bought, but I have planted them all. Plants were still moist on arrival so I was happy. I missed the delivery but collected from the courier's warehouse, so no problem.

Seem to be ideal, just hope that they will take and grow. Based on that, I will order some more later in the year. Service was excellent and delivered on time.

The box of plants were delivered in good condition, they were packaged well and seemed to have survived the journey. We planted them out soon after their arrival, their roots were all good and we are looking forward to seeing the hedge grow. Overall we are very pleased with our purchase.
