Product Description

25 Red Leaved Rose / Redleaf Rose - Rosa Glauca-  Plants

40-60CM Bare-Rooted

These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October - April and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.

Rosa glauca (Red-leaved Rose or Redleaf Rose; syn. R. rubrifolia) is a species of rose native to the mountains of central and southern Europe, from Spanish Pyrenees east to Bulgaria and north to Germany and Poland.

It is a deciduous arching shrub of sparsely bristled and thorny cinnamon-coloured arching canes 1.5-3 m tall. The most distinctive feature is its leaves, which are glaucous blue-green to coppery or purplish, and covered with a waxy bloom; they are 5-10 cm long and have 5-9 leaflets. The fragile, clear pink flowers are 2.5-4 cm diameter, and are produced in clusters of two to five. The fruit is a dark red globe rose hip 10-15 mm diameter.

    Rosa Glauca, 25 bare roots

Posted by Unknown on 6th Apr 2018

Was pleased with the quality of every one of these, - all strong looking plants . They arrived quickly and were well packaged. Rosa glauca, as a variety, has been proven to be very hardy in this, at times, windswept garden.
