Growing Details

Common Name: Green privet
Genus: Ligustrum
Species: ovalifolium
Skill Level: Beginner
Exposure: Full sun, Partial shade
Hardiness: Hardy
Soil type: Well-drained/light, Acidic, Chalky/alkaline
Height: 400cm
Spread: 400cm
Spacing: 3 Plants Per Metre

The denseness provides an ideal nesting site for small birds.A hedge will grow quite quickly up to about 8-10ft(2.5-3m). For a neat looking it can be clipped twice a year. It will tolerate most conditions including shade and exposed areas. Cut the hedge back to 30cm at planting and prune hard in the first 2 years.

The plants have been grown in the nursery for 2 years and will have an excellent root system ready for planting. Plant 15-45cm(6-18 inches) apart depending on how thick you want your hedge to be.

Arrived promptly and look good healthy plants. Time will tell whether quick establishment and growth rates from pots justifies the extra cost.
Have used Beechwood Nurseries several times before and have not been disappointed hence a natural returner.

I had ordered 30 potted privet plants they arrived on time and well packaged to avoid any damage and to keep them fresh. They were removed from the packaging watered left to breath and planted within two days and have established themselves.

Bought two lots of these, arrived within a couple days, we’ll packed and very much fresh. Good healthy plants. Out of seventy purchased, none were damaged and all have survived and appear to be doing well now that they’re planted. Wouldn’t go anywhere else for a hedge now that I’ve experienced these guys
