50 Photinia Red Robin Hedging Plants 25-40cm Bushy Hedge Shrubs
50 Christmas Berry / Photinia fraseri 'Red Robin' 25-40cm Tall in 9cm pots
Photinia, or Christmas berry, is a genus of Asian and North American shrubs, which includes a group of evergreen hybrids grown specifically for their colourful young foliage.
Common Name: Christmas berry
Species: x fraseri
Cultivar: 'Red Robin'
Skill Level: Beginner
Exposure: Full sun, Partial shade
Soil type: Well-drained/light, Moist
Spacing: 3 Plants Per Metre
Most are forms of the garden hybrid P. x fraseri, with glossy dark green adult foliage, and variable red tinted young leaves, especially as they just unfold. 'Red Robin' is one, a choice form with eye-catching juvenile growth the colour of sealing wax, similar to a pieris. This is sometimes caught by late spring frosts, and some shelter is advisable. Plants enjoy a sunny or partially shaded position in moist but well-drained soil.
As is mentioned in another review, these are a lot more expensive from other nurseries, for the price I paid for these I am extremely happy. Shipping was quick and out of 100 plants there were no damages. I can't wait until they fill out a bit, they will make such a beautiful hedge.
The hedge order of 50 was delivered in two small boxes (One lot of 26 and one lot of 27) - this, presumably, was to allow for damage in transit which happened to be the case in this instance ie two plants were bent and snapped. The delivery was extremely quick and order received (N.Ireland to N.Ireland addresses) within 48 hours and planted same day - couldn't really ask for better service- thanks
These are sold as 15-25cm - ours were well above that. Mostly above 40cm. Plants seem to be very healthy and well grown.
We contacted Beechwood looking for some advice after we received the plants, and had a very quick response answering our question.
This is priced at £3-400 in other places. Absolute bargain, very happy with our purchase. Thank you!
