Product Description

Golden Gage 'Oullins' Plum Tree 4-5ft, Self-Fertile, Sweet Honey Flavour

These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until April and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.

Gages are superior dessert plums, much sweeter with a rich honeyed flavour when grown in a warm sunny spot.

Partially sell fertile but crops at its best with the pollinators: Victoria, Czar or Opal. 'Cambridge Gage' is a popular variety, similar to the traditional 'Old Green Gage', with a very fine flavour.

Single, cup-shaped white flowers appear in late spring, followed by yellow-green fruit with a superb, juicy flavour, which are ready for picking in early September.

As with all trees from the prunus family, the leaves will start to appear autumnal and slightly shabby from mid June onwards. This is not a disease, but is mainly due to this years contrasting weather conditions and will not affect the performance of the tree.

Pollination:

It is self fertile and does not need any pollination partner.

fruiting will usually be improved if there is a compatible partner:

Cambridge Gage, Czar,  Merryweather, Mirabelle de Nancy, Victoria

    November 2021 - a naked, bareroot sapling

Posted by Margaret Flannery on 4th Nov 2021

Right now it looks like a November bareroot sapling, newly planted. It is five feet tall when planted. I will be happy to review this tree next autumn as it completes its growth cycle and has survived without problems.
