1 Prunus Avium 'PLENA' - Plants 4-5ft Tall In 6L Pot
Prunus avium Plena is the spectacular double flowered variety of our native wild cherry which has been in cultivation for over 200 years. It is a medium sized, deciduous tree.
Common Name: Wild cherry

Time to plant: October to March
The fruit are readily eaten by numerous birds and mammals, which digest the fruit flesh and disperse the seeds in their droppings. Some rodents, and a few birds (notably the Hawfinch), also crack open the stones to eat the kernel inside.Excellent wood for furniture of burning on an open fire.
As with all trees from the prunus family, the leaves will start to appear autumnal and slightly shabby from mid-June onwards. This is not a disease, it is just a growth cycle with this type of tree.
Lovely little tree
This wild cherry arrived very promptly, well packed and in good condition. The roots were filling the pot without being root bound, just right for planting. There are three nice branches, one upright and the others to each side, which will make a good framework as the tree grows. This one is to replace a tree which was here when we moved in, 46 years ago, which sadly had to be removed, so I hope this one will eventually take its place in our garden.
