Product Description

1 Rowan / Mountain Ash - Sorbus Aucuparia -

Plants 3-4ft Bare-Rooted

These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until April and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.

A native wild tree producing beautiful sweet smelling blossom in spring followed by red berries in autumn. These can be used to make jelly.Thrushes and other birds go mad for them.Rowan makes an excellent hedgerow or garden tree and can have multi-stems if pruned.

The mountain ash or rowan is a native European tree, especially in high altitudes where its robust hardiness ensures its survival. Once credited with magical powers and often planted near dwellings as an insurance against misfortune, it is widely planted in gardens, both as the species and in its many varieties. The trees tolerate a wide range of soils and sites, regularly producing huge crops of bright red berries in dense pendent bunches, which attract birds of all kinds. It succeeds particularly well in town gardens, and also when planted closely as a screen or informal large hedge.

    Great specimen

Posted by Unknown on 6th Dec 2021

It came very well packed - and is a well proportioned sapling. Taller than I was expecting - so great. All planted up now, after a good soaking - it's a "birth present" for a new baby relation who has been named Rowan - so hope that it will grow in stature, year on year, just like its namesake! Thank you

    OUR ROWAN

Posted by VICTOR SMITH on 22nd Apr 2021

Happy that the Rowan arrived promptly and on time. We were a little concerned with the packaging as it seemed very tight. Once unpacked we thought that the sapling didn't seem as though it would survive as it was smaller than what we had envisaged. We soaked it for an hour and then planted it according to the booklet (which we had downloaded). It is now thriving with new leaves and shoots. Very happy with our buy.

Excellent service and communication from Beechwood Trees and the delivery people. It looked like a twig on arrival but in less than a week it is starting to sprout shoots and we look forward to watching it grow. It was bought as a memorial tree. Many thanks.

    Mountain ash

Posted by Rebecca Crane on 4th Apr 2021

My parcel arrived quickly & carefully wrapped. It looked like a dried long stick, I was sure it was dead, but planted it right away. Now after a few weeks it is showing signs of life. A few more days on, leaves & buds are growing. I am sure in a year or two it will look magnificent.

Looks fine, a bit early to tell

Posted by Mike Segal on 12th Feb 2021

The tree arrived very promptly, well wrapped and apparently in a very healthy condition. I have planted it according to the excellent, detailed instructions on the Beechwood website and so far it looks fine. Lots of healthy-looking buds so I am optimistic that it will come out well.

    So far so good

Posted by lesley Burton on 12th Jan 2021

The tree arrived promptly. The wrapping was a challenge to undo but I think it was for the protection of the tree. The root system seems excellent and I have high hopes of a lovely tree in the future.
