3 Japanese Larch  40-60cm

Larix Kaempferi 

 

These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until April and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant.The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.

 

Japanese Larch (Larix kaempferi; Karamatsu in Japanese) is a species of larch native to Japan.Excellent for a sheltering windbreak if planted 1m apart.

 

It is a medium-sized to large deciduous coniferous tree reaching 20-40 m tall, with a trunk up to 1 m diameter. The crown is broad conic; both the main branches and the side branches are level, the side branches only rarely drooping. The shoots are dimorphic, with growth divided into long shoots (typically 10-50 cm long) and bearing several buds, and short shoots only 1-2 mm long with only a single bud.

    three lovely trees arrived very well packaged the addition of a small bamboo stick to provide security from potentially indelicate postal handling was a nice touch. at this time of year(dec) the trees all look dead but upon looking at the buds for next year they all appear very healthy indeed. there were two straight and one curved trunk tree in my selection which was great to see and i look forward to seeing the new growth i the spring as there are a great number of branches on each to play with. thanks.

    Much cheaper than local nursery prices. Good specimens with budding in progress. Cut and styled vigorously for Bonsai so a bit early for a definitive review. Reason for 4 stars. But would order again.
