Albizia julibrissin / Silk Tree in 9cm Pot, Outstanding Pink-white Flowers
Albizia julibrissin is a broad-crowned, medium-sized deciduous tree with large, mimosa-like bipinnate leaves. Fluffy white/rose-pink flower-heads, with prominent stamens, open in summer.
Please note that the main trunk has been pruned to encourage the tree to bush out and produce more branches and flowers.
Albizia is a small deciduous tree growing to 4-8m. The bark is dark greenish grey in colour and striped vertically as it gets older. The leaves are bipinnate, long and broad, divided into 6-12 pairs of pinnae, each with 20-30 pairs of leaflets. The flowers are produced throughout the summer in dense inflorescences and a tight cluster of stamens 2-3 cm long, white or pink with a white base, looking like silky threads.
