Product Description
'Robijn' Almond Tree, Prunus Dulcis Robijn, 4-5ft Self-fertile
These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until April and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.
"Robijn," a unique pinkish-white bloomed almond that is partially frost-resistant due to its late flowering, with soft shelled, extremely tasty nuts. The nuts grow inside velvety fruits and have a high resilience to leaf curl. They will crop in a bright, protected spot in late summer to produce almond milk, oil, butter, flour, or paste.
In addition to producing a bountiful crop of highly prized nuts, this lovely almond tree also makes a stunning decorative tree with its spectacular, light pink flowers every spring.
Almonds are self-fertile, but when additional almond trees are planted, pollination is improved.
As with plum trees (to which almonds are related) it is best to keep pruning to an absolute minimum.
As with all trees from the prunus family, the leaves will start to appear autumnal and slightly shabby with holes, from mid-June onwards. This is not a disease, it is just a growth cycle with this type of tree.
This tree is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.
