Product Description
Echium Pininana, Giant Viper's Bugloss, Funnel Shaped Blue Flowers, in a 9cm Pot
A beautiful biennial plant native to the Canary Islands is Echium pininana. It produces a low rosette of silvery, hairy, spear-like leaves in its first year, followed by a massive spike full of tiny blue flowers in its second year. It is very appealing to bees and creates a striking effect in a sunny, protected garden.
Echium pininana dies and distributes seed after flowering. In temperate, protected areas of the UK, it self-seeds easily; however, seed is unlikely to sprout in colder climates.
