Golden Gage 'Oullins' Plum Tree 4ft, Self-Fertile, Sweet Honey Flavour
Product Description
These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until April and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.
Gages are superior dessert plums, much sweeter with a rich honeyed flavour when grown in a warm sunny spot.
Oullin's golden gage serves two purposes. Pies and jams can be made using it in the kitchen. It tastes great eaten right off the tree and is sweet and juicy. A huge fruit by gage standards, it requires a sunny aspect in order to yield reliable and high-quality crops.
It has yellow transparent semi-clinging skin and a pretty golden hue with subtle red specks.
Between 1850 and 1899, France introduced it. The town of Oullins, which is close to Lyon, is the source of the term Oullins Golden Gauge. Reine Claude d'Oullins is another name for it.
It is self-fertile, which means that pollination doesn't need the assistance of another gage at the same location. August is the ideal time to pick it and use it within a week.
Pollination:
It is self fertile and does not need any pollination partner.
fruiting will usually be improved if there is a compatible partner:
Cambridge Gage, Czar, Merryweather, Mirabelle de Nancy, Victoria
