Product Description
Hazel 'Lange Spaanse' / Corylus Avellana Lange Spaanse
2-3ft Tall in a 2L Pot
Corylus Avellana Lange Spaanse is a slow-growing, deciduous hazelnut tree that works well in medium-to-large gardens and wildlife areas. Hazelnut Long Spanish is the more popular name for this hazelnut shrub. Early spring brings brilliant green foliage that takes on the classic oval shape with a short, pointed tip. Pretty tiny catkins soon start to develop down the length of its graceful branches in charming drooping clusters. After September, if pollinated, catkins develop into larger, sweeter-tasting hazelnuts that resemble our natural hazelnuts.
Hazelnut Long Spanish is hardy and able to withstand UK winters including sub-zero temperatures if its roots are well-drained. The catkins are tough enough to withstand some wind but for the best nut production it's best to grow it in a sheltered position.
