Product Description

James Grieves Apple Tree, 4-5ft Tall

These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until April and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.

This is a savoury, juicy apple with strong acidity at first, which then mellows as the fruit matures during September, but the flesh softens soon thereafter.

When picked early, it makes a sweet and delicate stewed apple, but then can be used as a dessert apple.James Grieve is a mid-season variety that is picked in early to mid September. At this stage it is pleasantly acidic and refreshing and if it is too sharp for eating it can be used for cooking. After a few weeks the flavour sweetens and becomes quite mild, and it is then an excellent apple to eat in slices or in hand. The flesh is soft, somewhat like a firm pear in texture. The plants grow well in most soil types, but prefer full sun.

Pollination:

It is partially self-fertile.

For better fruiting plant a compatible partner:

Beauty of Bath, Braeburn, Charles Ross, Cornish Aromatic, Discovery, Egremont Russet, Ellison's Orange, Elstar, Fiesta, Gala, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Grenadier, Howgate Wonder, Idared, Irish Peach, Laxton's Superb, Malus Evereste, Malus John Downie, Pitmaston Pine Apple, Red Devil, Spartan, Worcester Pearmain

Came in superfast time. Brilliantly and securely packaged. When opened a very sturdy tree with an excellent root system. I would certainly recommend the nurseries to anyone wanting top quality fruit trees

Arrived really well wrapped, soaked it then dug hole and planted, my only regret is there were no instructions with it, I just winged it and hopefully all will be well, looking forward to seeing it grow and prosper

    Super little tree!

Very pleased with my Apple tree, it came very well packed (took me ages to unravel all the packing) and it looks very healthy and a good shape. It’s easily as good if not better than any from a local garden centre.
