Product Description

Lythrum salicaria 'Robert', Purple Loosestrife, in a 9cm Pot, Purple-Red Flowers

Lythrum salicaria, or purple loosestrife, is a tall wildflower that grows naturally around ponds and along stream banks. In midsummer, tall, poker-shaped heads of vivid purple-red blooms emerge from its sturdy, upright stems. Butterflies and bees find its blossoms quite appealing.

The rose-pink flowers of Lythrum salicaria 'Robert' grow in tall spires. It's perfect for growing near the edge of a pond, but it may also be grown at the back of a bog garden or a wet, sunny border. It's also a terrific option for a wildlife garden or an informal cottage.

Use wet soil to grow Lythrum salicaria "Robert." In dry weather, water often, and in the spring, trim back any old growth. Every three to five years, split apart clumps.
