Product Description

Merryweather Damson Tree 4-5 ft, Self-Fertile & Heavy Cropping Very Tasty

These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until April and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.

Damsons are hardier forms of plum, making smaller robust trees that are often used for windbreaks or hedging

May also be trained on walls and grown as pyramids. Damsons will often crop heavily in soils and positions where larger plums fail, producing abundant rich fruits used for cooking or preserves. Most varieties are very similar and partially self-fertile, yielding well if planted on their own.

As with all trees from the prunus family, the leaves will start to appear autumnal and slightly shabby from mid June on wards. This is not a disease, but is mainly due to this years contrasting weather conditions and will not affect the performance of the tree.

Pollination:

Self-fertile

fruiting will usually be improved if there is a compatible partner

Pollinators:

Cambridge Gage, Czar, Mirabelle de Nancy, Opal, Victoria

    So far so good!

Posted by Neil on 31st Oct 2017

This damson tree was reasonably priced and is a well known variety, it very easy to order and the delivery was quick, I left instructions to leave the tree next to the porch as I may not be home when delivered. When it was delivered it had a note attached stating my request, this was nice to see that someone actually read my request, so well done! I've now put the tree in the ground and will have to wait and see how well it does. But so far so good, thanks for a great service!
