Merryweather Damson Tree 4-5ft Tall

in a 6L Pot

 

Damsons are hardier forms of plum, making smaller robust trees that are often used for windbreaks or hedging

May also be trained on walls and grown as pyramids. Damsons will often crop heavily in soils and positions where larger plums fail, producing abundant rich fruits used for cooking or preserves. Most varieties are very similar and partially self-fertile, yielding well if planted on their own.

As with all trees from the prunus family, the leaves will start to appear autumnal and slightly shabby with holes,  from mid-June onwards. This is not a disease, it is just a growth cycle with this type of tree.

    Bought a damson tree from Beechwood after visiting both our local garden centres first, both of which are branches of nationwide chains. The prices were sky high and the plants appeared very poor quality and little choice of variety, hence my decision to buy unseen from an online source. It made sense to buy direct from a nursery and cut out the middle man. Beechwood’s website is pretty good at reassuring customers i.e. me that they are worth buying from. Beechwood charged me about 1/3 less and I received a nice healthy looking plant. It was well packaged and delivered within 3 working days. The online instruction tips for planting and aftercare are useful. There’s already a few buds appearing and the roots looked very healthy and well developed when we removed the original pot for planting. Maybe a tad over confident for year one, but fingers crossed we’ll have some nice fruit this year or certainly next.

    Arrived promptly, packaged really well and was obviously sent on its journey after being well looked after and watered. This is a birthday present for my husband. We are excited to watch it grow and produce fruit. Thank you 3 fat pigs. ? ? ?

    Wanted a damson and this arrived within 36 hours. Beautiful tree, very well packaged and crazy good value. Only 2/3 the price of a bare root tree that would be two years behind this. 3 fat pigs excellent as ever.
