The attractive, slow-growing evergreen shrub Rhododendron impeditum 'Blue Silver' is prized for its velvety, silvery-green foliage and compact form. Its petite, funnel-shaped blooms, which range in colour from lavender-blue to violet, bloom profusely in late April, contrasting sharply with its foliage. It is perfect for rock gardens, pots, or the front of a border because of its low, mounding shape.
Although it can withstand full sun in colder locations, this dwarf rhododendron loves a spot in partial shade and grows best in moist, acidic, well-drained soil. It is low-maintenance and hardy, making it ideal for tiny gardens or for bringing texture and colour to regions that receive little sunlight.
