Product Description

10 Snowy Mespilus / Amelanchier Lamarckii plants

1-2ft Strong Bare root

These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until April and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.

Commonly known as juneberry or snowy mespilus, is form of serviceberry shrub. It has white flowers that are star-shaped. Its young berry-like pome fruits are dark-red when young, but become dark-purple when ripe.

A very beautiful, small, North American tree that is attractive in all seasons, even in winter when its spreading crown of fine shoots makes a satisfying, dense, shrubby shape. In March the branches erupt with a froth of star-shaped flowers in lax conical heads, just as the coppery pink young leaves unfold - in summer these are yellowish green, but later turn scarlet and crimson. In July the tree is studded with dark red berries which become purple-black as they ripen. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it the Award of Garden Merit. It makes a fantastic colourful hedge.

Planted up they will hopefully grow well as part of a 350 meter hedgerow ,they look healthy and apparently produce lots of white flowers lets hope it doesn't snow at the same time.

    Pleased with purchase

The shrubs arrived looking healthy, they were well packed with no damage on arrival. I planted them several weeks ago in late autumn and they are already showing signs of developing buds, so I am very pleased and look forward to seeing how they grow over the spring and summer months. I would not hesitate to use Beechwood Nurseries again, as there is a great choice at good prices and the ordering process is easy.
