The Spartan apple variety has a lot going for it. For starters the apples are on the small size, great for kids. The appearance is exactly how you imagine a juicy apple looks. The base of yellow is almost entirely covered by bright red. You will be able to produce a lot of fruit from a small space with this small tree.

Spartan is a deep marroon-coloured apple with an excellent refreshing sweet flavour. Apple text books often describe the flavour as "vinous" and it can indeed have a wine-like quality, although this is first and foremost a crisp sweet juicy unpretentious apple. Being partially self-fertile, you can get away with not having a pollination partner, though your crop size will suffer a bit. Fiesta is a mid-late season flowerer and can cross pollinate with any tree in the mid or late season categories.
