Elstar is a successful offspring of Golden Delicious, developed in the Netherlands in the 1950s.This easy-eating dessert apple has a distinctive colour of golden yellow but overlaid with deep red.
Elstar is definitely a crunchy apple, but not as crisp or hard as some - definitely the softer side of crunchy. The flesh is lemon-white.The trees will grow in a wide variety of soil types, but prefers full sun.It is cropped between October and January. The tree is self sterile so it needs to be planted with other varieties.
