10 Portugal laurel Hedging Prunus Lusitanica 20-30cm, Evergreen Hedging Plants
10 Portugal laurel / Prunus lusitanica 20-30cm Tall In 9cm Pots
Like its close relative the cherry laurel, this species from Spain and Portugal is usually planted to make a large hedge, screen or windbreak
Common Name: Portugal laurel
Skill Level: Beginner
Exposure: Full sun, Partial shade
Soil type: Well-drained/light, Dry
Spacing: 3 Plants Per Metre
It is a very beautiful shrub in its own right though, eventually making a large shapely tree if allowed to grow naturally. The leaves are an attractive shade of green, reddish when young and on red stalks, while the white flowers in early summer smell sweetly of hawthorn. It is hardier and more versatile even than cherry laurel, and withstands clipping into formal shapes
Portuguese Laurel Delivery.
Delivery was very good - despatched on Thurs/Friday, received on Monday 11th March. Plants were received in good condition, ready to be planted. The plants were all within the correct height range that I ordered, but none of them has that distinctive red stem that is a feature of Portuguese Laurel - are they a variety which lacks this feature ? I have not managed to plant them yet because of storm Gareth, and I have also been recovering from a cold. Hopefully this weekend if the weather permits.
I find beechwood trees alway's supply good quality plants
