This vigorous upright shrub is a good-value plant for a garden. It has attractive, grey-green variegated leaves in summer. If you don't prune it regularly its stems will become redder. It's also known as the poor man's black bamboo, but that really doesn't give this shrub its due. Its berries are white.
Plant as a single shrub or as a hedge 30-60cm apart.
