An evergreen shrub related to the barberry. The Oregon-grape is not closely related to grapes, but gets its name from the purple clusters of berries whose colour and slightly dusted appearance is reminiscent of grapes.
Winter Sun is a medium-sized evergreen shrub of upright growth, with long, spiny, pinnate leaves. Flowers small, bright yellow, fragrant, in clusters of erect racemes, followed by blue-black berries.
